If you have been around a while you know that typically when a full moon peak lands during the day, I cure the candles outside under the moonlight the night before so they are curing under the come up of the full moon energy. 

But there is some really interesting and special astrology right now and it only felt right to acknowledge it with these sweet candles. So the candles were poured and placed outside to cure in between the peak of the full moon (4:56 pm PT) and Jupiter entering Leo (10:53pm). 

Jupiter will be in Leo for the next year and this is some seriously benefic energy for all of us. This is a brand new energetic chapter wherein all of your hard work, focus, and devotion will be the foundation for the magic that Jupiter is about to rain down on you. Leo brings fire and passion to your voice, your creativity, your visibility and your courage. And with great power comes great responsibility. Which is why this months affirmation is:

Boundaries = Love

This full moon is the ideal time to release pressure that is not yours. Release what is draining you and dragging you down. Brene Brown talks about boundaries in the most brilliant way. 

“Boundaries are the distance at which I can love you and me simultaneously.”

“When we fail to set boundaries and hold people accountable, we feel used and mistreated” ~ Brene Brown

Love without boundaries is draining and leads to resentment. This full moon is asking you to love yourself enough to hold the boundary, to hold people accountable, and to place your energy where it is aligned. 

Focused aligned action will always be what is most productive for you and those around you. Let the martyr energy go, it isn’t saving anyone, least of all you.

Moon candles are all about taking some time for yourself. Every aspect of these candles are created with love and intention.

What are Moon Candles?

  • The containers are all thrown individually by hand, by me on the new moon.

  • Candles are trimmed, burnished, and bisque fired under the waxing crescent and first quarter moon.

  • Then glazing and firing takes place under the waxing gibbous moon.

  • On the full moon I pour the candles with 100% soy wax and a color and scent pertaining to that particular full moon.

  • Candles are scented with essential oils. It is a mellower scent allowing you to burn the candle for longer.

  • The candles are then set out physically under the light of the full moon to cure and absorb the magical energy. They are also present for all of my own full moon rituals and blessings.

Caring For Your Candle:

Let the candle melt all the way across the top before blowing out. This is especially important the first time you light your candle. This can take many hours as soy/coconut wax has a very long burn time.

Burning until the melted wax has reached the edge of the container will ensure it burns cleanly out of the container for the remainder of the life of the candle.

After your candle has completely burned, fill the empty candle vessel with boiling water to release any residual wax. Once cooled, wipe clean.

The vessel is food safe, microwave safe, & dishwasher safe. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email with any questions!

Wooden wicks are special and beautiful, but they do not behave like cotton wicks. They require a bit more care for optimal performance.

Keep the wick cut short (about 1/8”) and close to the candle wax, which helps it to burn. Before each new burn, gently use your fingers or a wick cutter to remove the extra carbon from the wick.

Make sure the wick is lit all the way across. This might take extra seconds of holding the flame to the wick. Torch lighters work well for this.
