Hi friends thank you so much for being here! We have just started Virgo season and this season is sure entering with a bang with eclipses, and retrogrades galore. It can feel hard and complicated right now and frankly that’s because it is. It would be really easy to be swept away by that feeling (and goodness knows I do that my fair share). But I truly believe we are here right now because we are meant to be. Our unique contribution is needed during this time on the planet, and it’s going to take all of us doing our part to continue to build a bridge to a better future. 

But I think part of the lesson that is showing up HARD right now, is that we can’t help, we can’t save everyone else, we can’t care for everyone else, if we aren’t also extending that same care and love to ourselves. 

A huge lesson of this season is learning to give from a place of your own innate self worth, versus a need to prove yourself or your value. What would it feel like to extend the love and care you most likely give to everyone else in your life to yourself first?. What if you learned to feel that you are so worthy that you truly deserve it. That makes a lot of folx really uncomfortable (including myself). 

But this feels like a minotaur in the maze vibe to me. Where the way we all seem to have been going about it is actually backwards. Especially women are taught from such a young age to give, to earn, to support everyone and everything around them. But what if you cared for yourself as lovingly and diligently as you care for everyone around you? 

Leo season asked a lot of us. Virgo is asking us to replenish and find our worthiness in our imperfections.

Take care of yourself, take care of your heart, take care of your people. Tend to your wild and beautiful heart ~ it is a garden that deserves your love and devotion.

Moon candles are all about taking some time for yourself. Every aspect of these candles are created with love and intention.

What are Moon Candles?

  • The containers are all thrown individually by hand, by me on the new moon.

  • Candles are trimmed, burnished, and bisque fired under the waxing crescent and first quarter moon.

  • Then glazing and firing takes place under the waxing gibbous moon.

  • On the full moon I pour the candles with 100% soy wax and a color and scent pertaining to that particular full moon.

  • Candles are scented with essential oils. It is a mellower scent allowing you to burn the candle for longer.

  • The candles are then set out physically under the light of the full moon to cure and absorb the magical energy. They are also present for all of my own full moon rituals and blessings.

What does the Sparrow Society Moon Candle Subscription entail?

As a member of the Sparrow Society, you will receive a unique, handcrafted moon candle each month. Each shipment will include:

  • One hand crafted ceramic candle at the size of your choosing

  • A moon card with information about that months astrology and candle, and the moon in general

  • A care card for tips on burning the candles

Caring For Your Candle:

Let the candle melt all the way across the top before blowing out. This is especially important the first time you light your candle. This can take many hours as soy/coconut wax has a very long burn time.

Burning until the melted wax has reached the edge of the container will ensure it burns cleanly out of the container for the remainder of the life of the candle.

After your candle has completely burned, fill the empty candle vessel with boiling water to release any residual wax. Once cooled, wipe clean.

The vessel is food safe, microwave safe, & dishwasher safe. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email with any questions!

Wooden wicks are special and beautiful, but they do not behave like cotton wicks. They require a bit more care for optimal performance.

Keep the wick cut short (about 1/8”) and close to the candle wax, which helps it to burn. Before each new burn, gently use your fingers or a wick cutter to remove the extra carbon from the wick.

Make sure the wick is lit all the way across. This might take extra seconds of holding the flame to the wick. Torch lighters work well for this.
